Philosophy and values in Gita to be taught to class 6-8 students in Gujarat schools

The Education Department of the Government of Gujarat launched a supplementary reader book based on ‘Bhagavad Gita.’ The book contains spiritual principles and values embodied in the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita. It will become a part of the curriculum for students from classes 6 to 8 starting from the next academic year.

Dr. Kuber Dindor, Cabinet Minister for Primary, Secondary, and Adult Education; Praful Pansheriya, Minister of State for Primary, Secondary, and Adult Education, Higher Education; and Dr. Vinod R. Rao, I.A.S. Secretary (Primary and Secondary Education), unveiled the book. This book has been introduced as the supplementary reader book under the National Education Policy 2020.This academic decision aims to make students feel proud and connected to India’s rich, diverse, ancient culture, knowledge systems, and traditions through the teachings of the “Shrimad Bhagavad Gita.” The books will be introduced into the curriculum from the next academic year.
